How does SEO work with Search Engines?
The primary objective of any search engine is to provide users with the most satisfying and relevant results.
To do this, search engines have to identify and display the best pages as top search results.
While Google is the most widely used search engine, and we often refer to it when discussing SEO, similar principles apply across other search engines.
Google employs the following stages to discover and rank content:
Crawling: Google utilizes "bots" or automated programs to scour the web for new or updated pages. For Google to locate a page, there must be at least one link pointing to it.
Indexing: Google then analyzes each page to understand its content. This information is stored in the Google Index, a vast database of web pages.
Serving Results: When a user submits a query, Google evaluates which pages are the most relevant and of the highest quality, ranking them accordingly in the search engine results pages (SERP).
